Physical chipset inspection provides definitive compliance verification when MAC OUI analysis is inconclusive.

Any device containing a HiSilicon SoC — regardless of the brand label — is non-compliant under NDAA Section 889. HiSilicon is a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, a named prohibited entity.

NVR Compatibility Note
Replacing cameras requires NVR compatibility verification. Reolink cameras require Reolink NVR or ONVIF-compliant NVR. Axis/Hanwha require vendor NVR (Axis Camera Station / Wisenet Wave) or enterprise VMS (Milestone, Genetec). Mixed installations: verify ONVIF Profile S compliance on both camera and NVR.
Procurement Warnings
Axis, Hanwha, and Bosch products purchased from Amazon are grey-market imports. These carry zero manufacturer warranty and firmware integrity cannot be guaranteed. Procurement must go through authorized distributors only.
Reolink and Ubiquiti are NDAA compliant but not TAA compliant. They cannot appear on GSA Schedule procurement vehicles.
Uniview (UNV) is not on the NDAA Sec 889 banned list as of Q2 2026 but is subject to China’s National Intelligence Law. Risk-averse federal agencies and UK sensitive sites implement a shadow ban on all PRC-owned technology.
