TAA vs. NDAA: A Critical Distinction
NDAA Section 889 and the Trade Agreements Act (TAA) are separate compliance requirements. NDAA prohibits use of equipment from specific prohibited entities. TAA restricts procurement to goods manufactured in designated countries — and China, Vietnam, and Taiwan are not TAA-designated countries for most categories.
Most Tier 3 brands (Reolink, Ubiquiti) are NDAA compliant but NOT TAA compliant. They cannot be used on GSA Schedule contracts. Verify both requirements before federal procurement.
